There is a node for mental ray that bevels the edges of geometry. I wanted a similar thing in Houdini so I wrote a shader that will do just that!

Теперь растущие линии могут разветвляться. солвер можно подключать к любой геометрии или облаку точек, главное чтобы на всех точках изначально был атр infected=0, и хотя бы одна точка была в группе active_grp. внутри солвера на атриб вопе вынесены параметры max connection и рампа которыми всё управляется.

Now, the growing lines can branch out. solver can be connected to any geometry or point cloud, the main thing that all points must have attribute infected = 0, and at least one point must be in active_grp group. within the solver on attribute vop handed ramp and max connection parameter which everything is controlled.

22.07 added new version. Now every new branch is a separate primitive. What allow retime and rebuild the structure after simulation.

This is my university graduation work.
I made 80’s records store scenary with 3D tools. I intended to make a day scene and a night scene to show different atmospheres come from the same place.
All of you may have precious memories that are so beautiful that can’t be forgotten.
So I tried to recreate this analog sensibility by using digital elements.

About the the rendering: I used Redshift for this, an AMAZING Gpu renderer that rendered this scene with GI in less than on hour on my GTX 980.
Also I just put some motion trails in there to make it more interesting (not shown in the video).
